LTC student part of Cert IV Music Industry E course pilot

At the end of 2020, the ACT Education Directorate and CIT Reid announced the provision of an E course for college students: Certificate IV in Music Industry. Students auditioned to enter the course and the first cohort started in February 2021 at CIT Reid. They attend 4 hours every Thursday evening in term time across their two years in Year 11 and 12. This is an additional class they take on alongside a full 5 line load at college during the week. It is an opportunity to really be involved in the many aspects of the music industry: performance skills, composition, music theory, and how to run a microbusiness (amongst other competencies).
The Music Industry students held their first performance night on Wednesday 5 May. They were also assessed during this evening and were ably supported by CIT students undertaking the Sound and Lighting Course.
One of our LTC Year 11 students, Sean, is a member of this cohort and performed his original song on acoustic guitar and took part in two ensembles that were formed within the class environment. Performances were entertaining and engaging and even involved the audience! There is also a wonderful camaraderie amongst the students from across our ACT colleges.
We’re really proud to have one of our LTC Music students in this course. Congratulations to Sean on being chosen and pursuing his love of music!

Emerge 2021 – Multicultural Youth Summit
LTC students are invited to participate in Emerge 2021 – a one day summit on Tuesday June 22 for young people from multicultural backgrounds between the ages of 15 and 25 who live, study, work or play in the ACT. Registration is essential.

WWDACT Covid-19 Survey

Women with Disabilities ACT (WWDACT) is conducting a community consultation survey of ACT women, girls, non-binary and feminine identifying people with disabilities (hereafter referred to as women*) to learn more about the gendered impacts of COVID-19.
WWDACT would like the opportunity to hear from and advocate for students from Lake Tuggeranong College in regards to these matters.
The survey attempts to capture the immense diversity of women* with disabilities, and properly understand how this diversity has shaped personal experiences of COVID-19.
Data will be used to identify actions that can be implemented systemically to address the needs and rights of women* with disabilities in COVID-19 responses and recovery plans.
The survey can be found at:
