Knitting for Community

A really lively and engaged group of students have joined Julie to sit and knit together each Wednesday as part of the College Connect program.  The original session was so successful that a call went out to our families to see if there were any stashes of wool and/or knitting needles lying about, and we were inundated with generous donations!  And a good thing, too, as the second session had even MORE student knitters AND two staff members who wanted to help!

Grace Clark and Alannah Tough. Knit one pearl one.

The group is diverse and keen – making it an absolute treat. We have ambitions: we might drape our finished products over trees at the Arboretum or make squares into blankets and donate to the hospitals and aged care places in Canberra. Either way, there is already a wonderful sense of community and “connectedness” in the group.

Heather’s Auditions

Students and staff alike are pretty excited at the prospect of working on this award-winning dark comedy musical based on the 1988 cult movie ‘Heathers’. Performances will be early in semester two so stay tuned for more details.

Auditions took place in week 3 for all those students keen to land themselves a lead role. Close to 30 students attended the auditions, making our job of casting the 10 leads roles and the additional supporting roles that much harder.

The cast has now been chosen – huge congratulations to the successful students and rehearsals for the whole cast will start in earnest in Week 4.

“Beautiful. It’ll be so Very.”

Great tips for doing an assignment!
