Online + Unleashed

Online and Unleashed is the title of the end-of-year exhibition by Lake Tuggeranong College, Visual Arts Students. Public Health restrictions have provided the student with an opportunity to learn more about using social media to promote and exhibit their artwork online. Media, Dance, Music, and Drama students have had some experience of this by posting their work to our YouTube channel LTCstar TV.

This week’s cover photo, shows the new “Ceramics by Bree”, which will form part of the Online +Unleashed exhibition.

Introducing Peter Clayden – New Deputy Principal

I am excited to return to LTC. It is my third stint working here. I commenced as a classroom teacher many years ago and then returned in 2010 to work across three southside colleges.

I have worked in senior leadership roles for an extensive period of time at Canberra College and more recently at Birrigai Outdoor School and Telopea Park School. I am excited to return to LTC to work in the role of building staff capacity and leading assessment and reporting practices. I will join students in the classroom in the Health Sciences and will deliver the Pre-Med program in 2022 which I initiated many years ago

I was born in Lorne in Victoria and grew up in country Victoria and Melbourne where I completed a Science degree before heading to Canberra and completing my postgraduate teacher training.

Peter Clayden, Alexandra, Victoria.

I look forward to working with staff, students, and community members to progress learning opportunities and pathways for all.

Kerrie Barnard – ACT Children’s Week Awards Nomination

At Lake Tuggeranong College we want to acknowledge Kerrie Barnard who has been nominated for a Children’s Week 2021 Significant Support Award. Congratulations Kerrie!

Updated bus timetables, including dedicated school buses, started on Monday 25 October 2021. A range of COVID safe measures are in place to help keep students safe on public transport. Please remind families to familiarise themselves with these measures and talk to their children about them before they return to school.

Transport Canberra has also prepared information and advice for schools to share with their school communities. Please use the attached social tile and messages that cover:

  • COVID safe travel for school students – a list for students, including how to use public transport safely and remembering your MyWay card.
  • Consider walking or riding to school – to help ease congestion around schools, parents and carers are encouraged to consider alternative ways to get their children to school, such as walking, riding or using a part way point.
  • Park safely and legally – if driving, remember to park safely, legally and follow the speed limits.

Congratulations Peter (Clayden). Great to see you returning home! Pity about the tie in the picture though. Best wishes Rob McConchie Founding Principal.
