Hannah Holford – In her own words

Congratulations to our very own Hannah Holford! Last week Hannah won the ACT Training awards 2021, Australian School based Apprentice of the year . This is an amazing honour and so very well deserved!

Hannah tells her own story.

“I undertook a certificate III in Individual Support – specialised in Aged Care while also completing a tertiary package at Lake Tuggeranong College. This helped me to keep my options open for furthering my education at university as I was interested in Occupational therapy.”

“I had no idea that apprenticeships in industries such as Aged Care were available to me. I was so excited when I received the option to complete a certificate while in college. I have been heavily involved in my church community programs and have been volunteering in Aged Care since year nine. I have such a passion for improving the lives of elderly individuals and I would love to see more young people involved in Aged Care. My apprenticeship has given me a passion for promoting ASBA’s as I believe it is an incredible opportunity of learning and skills development.  I received incredible support from my workplace, school and trainers throughout my apprenticeships and I am so grateful to them.”

Media – Analysis of Maus, a Graphic Novel

In term 3 Media students have completed an analysis of Maus. This Pulitzer Prize winning text has become recognised for it’s complex symbolism and imagery. The analysis of Maus has been part of a unit on Animation and Graphic Novels.

In the extract below, year 12 Media student Jacqui Di Fronzo writes about the novel in context as a Post Modernist project.
