ANU Extension Program Graduates
Congratulations to our students graduating from the ANU Extension Program.

Through this program, students can:
🔹 Receive credit towards a bachelor’s degree
🔹 Have results contribute to their ATAR aggregate
🔹 Gain Tier 2 priority admission and may receive an early conditional offer (subject to requirements)
Progression and completion rely on meeting both BSSS and ANU academic standards, and our students have done exceptionally well. We are proud of their hard work and achievement.

Tournament of Minds at LTC
Lake Tuggeranong College was proud to host Tournament of Minds this year, including the ACT finals.
We welcomed teams from across the region and received positive feedback from organisers and participants about the venue and the supportive atmosphere on campus.
Events like this highlight LTC’s commitment to academic extension and creative problem-solving, and we are proud to contribute to such a vibrant learning community.

Education Trade Workshop
Our students took part in an Education Trade Workshop hosted by Programmed Canberra, engaging in hands-on activities and demonstrations with a range of tradespeople.
Two students also secured work experience placements in fields they are interested in, which was a great outcome from the day.

THRIVE Creative Writing Magazine
THRIVE, LTC’s online creative writing magazine, is now live.
The publication features original writing from our students, including stories, poetry and ideas.
Read it here:
https://sites.google.com/ed.act…/thrive/home-thrive-2025

Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge Ambassador
We are proud of our Visual Arts and Ceramics teacher, Rachel, who earlier this year served as a Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge (CMRC) Ambassador.
Rachel is a published author and illustrator and is currently working on her debut novel for young people. As a CMRC Ambassador, she shared her passion for reading and storytelling with students across the ACT, helping inspire a love of books and creativity in young people.

Mars Rover Program
LTC built a Mars rover during TRAC-X this year.
Two of our Year 11 engineering students, Dion and Faye, worked with around 70 Year 2 primary school students, giving each student the chance to remotely control a rover, navigate obstacles and record what they “found” on Mars.
It was a strong day of learning and seeing STEM in action.

Transition Day
It was great to welcome our incoming 2026 students on campus for Transition Day. They took part in a mini timetable, met their teachers and enjoyed a BBQ lunch with music and activities.
Thank you to our current Year 11s – the LTC Ask Me Crew – for helping make the day a positive experience.

Technologies Projects
Here are some photos from earlier in the term of our Technologies students putting the final touches on their projects across the wood, metal and automotive workshops.
Technologies at LTC gives students the opportunity to design, problem-solve and bring ideas to life through practical, hands-on projects.

Chromebooks – Year 12s
Attention all year 12 students! As the school year winds down, it’s time to bid farewell to your trusty Chromebook and charger.
If your Chromebook is still in tip-top shape, we’ll pass it on to another student. If it’s seen better days, we’ll retrieve its license and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way. If you do keep the device, we will have to lock it, and it won’t be usable.
So, help us keep it eco-friendly by ensuring all returned devices are recycled responsibly and let’s make every device count!

Public Transport Changes for Early 2026

Social Media Age Restriction
The Australian Government’s new Social Media Age Restriction (SMAR) legislation comes into effect on 10 December 2025. This national law is designed to help protect the mental health and wellbeing of young Australians by ensuring social media platforms take steps to prevent Australians under 16 from creating or keeping an account.
Our school system is taking proactive steps to comply with the new legislation and support our students to have safe and positive experiences online.
To meet these new laws, from 10 December 2025, students in kindergarten to year 10 will no longer have access to YouTube through their school issued accounts. This may impact on how students can access the platform after this date. Further information from the eSafety Commissioner can be found in the attached fact sheet.
Please speak with your children and young people about the Social Media Age Restriction legislation. We know that some students may find it difficult to adjust to the new rules around social media use. Resources are available to support your discussions Social media age restrictions | eSafety Commissioner.

ACT public school term dates
The ACT public school term dates for 2026-2030, including student-free days, are now available on the Education Directorate’s website.

Use these dates when planning your future holidays.
Free Period Products Available at ACT Schools
All ACT public schools are stocked with free period products so students can access them no matter their circumstances. This is part of the ACT Government’s commitment to ensuring students feel comfortable and confident within our schools.
Free period products are available at our school’s front office. Students can access them at any time by talking to our helpful front office staff.
Sanitary pads are available from the front offices of primary schools, while pads and tampons are available at the front offices of high schools and colleges.
Because menstruation is a fact of life, we believe free access to period products should be too.
