Champion of Learning – Farewell to Lori

During her tenure, Lori’s transformative efforts turned the library into a vibrant hub of learning and collaboration. Lori’s collaborations have had a profound impact on student research skills and overall learning experiences. Dylan and Raphaela’s Questacon Journey
Dylan and Raphaela, two bright sparks from our college, have ignited a passion for science communication through their remarkable journey in the Questacon Student Explainer program. Their dedication has shone brightly, both during Term 2 and over the school holidays, as they immersed themselves in the world of science.
Throughout this enriching experience, Dylan and Raphaela have delved into the art of science communication, honing their skills in effectively conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences. Their commitment has been truly commendable as they stepped up as volunteer explainers at Questacon, sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dylan and Raphaela for their outstanding efforts in the program. Their dedication not only reflects their individual growth but also embodies the spirit of curiosity and exploration that we value at our college. As they continue to inspire and spark curiosity, we look forward to witnessing their future achievements in the realm of science and science communication.



Become a Homestay Host
Are you interested in broadening your family’s cultural experiences and forming lifelong friendships?
The ACT Education Directorate is seeking Homestay hosts for international students planning to study at an ACT public high school or college.
By becoming a Homestay host, you’ll not only provide a room and meals, but you’ll also welcome a young person into your family and support their growth as they gain new perspectives, confidence, English fluency, and academic and essential life skills.
International students participating in the Homestay program are aged 16 years or above. If you have the time to support a student’s social wellbeing and academic endeavours, and have an interest in other cultures, we would love to hear from you.
A weekly payment will be provided to help cover the costs of living expenses.

Get ready to step into the shoes of your beloved book characters – it’s that time again! Dress up as a character from your favorite book and join the festivities at lunchtime. Let your imagination run wild and be part of the vibrant celebration. It’s all about the joy of storytelling and the thrill of being someone else, even if just for a little while.
So, raid your closet, dig out those quirky accessories, and embrace the spirit of fun and creativity. Join us as we turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, one book character at a time!

Applications for the 2024 Young Carer Bursary Program
The Young Carer Bursary Program supports young carers to continue with their education and reduce their need to undertake paid work at the same time as their study and caring duties.
The program offers 1,592 bursaries of $3,768 each year to assist with education needs and resources.
Young carers must apply each year to be assessed for a bursary. It makes no difference if you complete your application on the first day or the final day because all Applications will go to the Independent Assessment Panel for review after the closing date on 12 September 2023.
Please note this process can take up to 16 weeks. You will be notified of the panel decision after the review process has been completed.

UC Creative Competition
The UC Creative Competition celebrates the creativity of Year 11 and 12 students from the ACT, NSW and QLD. Participating students stand a chance to win a full year’s tuition and semester study grants towards an Arts and Design degree at UC, and cash prizes for each competition category. Each work will be published in our competition gallery and open to voting for our annual People’s Choice Award.
Submissions to this competition can be used to form part of the participating student’s portfolio to gain entry into any of the Faculty of Arts and Design degrees.
All Year 11 and 12 students are invited to submit their best creative work – which could be a school-based project or their own personal work – for the chance to win study grants towards a Faculty of Arts and Design degree, as well as a range of Adobe products and cash prizes!

2024 Australian Government School Leaver Program
Finishing Year 12 and looking to get head start on your career?
The 2024 Australian Government School Leaver Program is a 12-month career development program. It’s a full-time job with a competitive salary, paid holidays and superannuation.
You’ll build your skills on the job at one of the many Australian Government departments and agencies participating in the 2024 program. And if you find you love the meaningful work, you can stay on and continue your career in the Australian Public Service (APS).
The program builds on the success of the Department of Finance’s Career Starter Program and the APS HR Profession’s Human Resources (HR) School Leaver Program that you may have heard about in previous years.
