Lake Tuggeranong College is celebrating its incredible success in the 2015 Canberra Area Theatre awards (the CATs) for the college production of Noises Off. At the recent Gala Night (Saturday 20th Feb 2016) we received two awards for the production.
A quirky comedy full of physicality and requiring exquisite timing, Noises Off was a risky choice for the college performing arts team and students, this play is often described as the most ‘technically difficult farce of all time’. Rather than shy away from this challenge the nine actors involved worked with gusto and enthusiasm to create this complex and intricate play.
The CAT judges were in raptures for the performances and this was reflected in the seven nominations the production received. In the two major actor/actress categories, the production generated dual nominees, signalling the depth of quality in the cast.
In the end, the results were:
- Best Youth Actor in a Featured Role in a Play – Jack Overton
- Best Youth Actor in a Leading Role in a Play – Andrew Taylor
The judges commented on Andrew and Jack’s extraordinary ability to master the most difficult genre of ‘farce’.
Students and staff from Lake Tuggeranong College had a wonderful time preparing the performance of Noises Off in 2015. Thanks to all of the parents, staff and fellow students that attended the performance, and supported the cast during the production schedule.
Congratulations to all involved!
