Success Assembly
The college community gathered to recognise student achievement at this term’s Success Assembly.
🎓 Learn Awards acknowledge students that have demonstrated academic success in various subjects.
🌟 Thrive Awards celebrate students that have thrived in their studies or in other extra-curricular areas.
🤝 Connect Awards recognise students who have benefited others in our community, given assistance or time voluntarily, and demonstrated excellent citizenship qualities.
Thank you to the families, friends, and staff who joined us in celebrating our students.

Student Art Exhibited at Brindabella Pocket Gallery
Visual Art students Cassidy and Cassandra now have their work on display at the Brindabella Pocket Gallery, located in the office of Taimus Werner-Gibbings MLA at the ACT Legislative Assembly.
The gallery was officially opened by Chief Minister Andrew Barr and features works by Tuggeranong locals. Cassidy and Cassandra’s pieces were selected for their originality and strong connection to place.

Legal Studies Visit the NSW Police Academy
Legal Studies students visited the NSW Police Academy for an inside look at police training and careers in law enforcement.
Students explored the training facilities, heard from officers about the profession, and took part in a marching and parade drill.
Thanks to all students who represented the college so well on the day.

Thane Recognised at National Volunteer Week Reception
Year 11 student Thane attended the National Volunteer Week Reception at Government House as a youth representative for Headspace Tuggeranong, alongside his sister Mya.
He is an active member of the Tuggeranong Youth Council and the Tuggeranong Community Council. At the event, Thane was invited by the CEO of The Y Canberra Region to join the developing Youth Parliament.
We’re proud to see Thane representing the college with leadership and community spirit.

The Rule of Zip
This month, students performed The Rule of Zip in the Helen Nield Theatre.
Written by Canberra playwright Kate McNamara, the play is set in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by AI and technocrats. Two rotating casts switched roles midway through the performance.
The production featured:
• Aisha and Alithea as The Voice
• Bowie and Zoe as Tisane
• Eli and Taj as The Zip
• Sabrina and Lilly as No-chance But One
• Thane and Cody as King Kong
• Jemimah and Taylah as Coda
• Rory and Blake as Alf
Directed by our drama teacher Catherine, the show highlighted strong performances across both nights.

TRaC-X Students Wrap Up with Cream Puffs
During the final TRaC-X session for the semester, students put their Versatile Pastry skills to the test by making cream puffs.
A fun and tasty way to finish a great run of skill-building sessions.

Students Attend Shake & Stir’s 1984
Drama and English students attended Shake & Stir’s stage adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984.
The production explored themes of surveillance, historical manipulation, and dehumanisation through a small ensemble cast and multimedia elements.
It was a powerful experience that deepened students’ engagement with the text.

Year 12s Complete Final AST Trial
Well done to our Year 12 Tertiary students who completed their final AST trial over two days this month.
This full-scale practice was an important step in preparing for the real exams, and we’re proud of the effort and focus shown throughout.

2025 school year Equity Fund now open
To ease the pressure of back-to-school costs, eligible Canberra families can apply now for 2025 Future of Education Equity Fund payments.
The Equity Fund supports eligible low-income families and independent students from preschool through year 12 with a one-off, annual payment to help cover the costs associated with schooling such as uniforms, sport equipment and activities, tuition and music lessons.
The 2025 school year payments for eligible families are $400 (preschool), $500 (primary school), and $750 (high school and college).
Payments of completed applications will begin earlier than previous years, with the first payments to families expected from 6 January 2025.
Families will have until the end of November 2025 to apply for the Fund. Check your eligibility and find more information about supporting documents on the Equity Fund webpage.

ACT public school term dates
The ACT public school term dates for 2026-2030, including student-free days, are now available on the Education Directorate’s website.
Each year, the first day of every term is a student-free day. We use student-free days for staff development, enabling us to plan in a student-free environment.
Use these dates when planning your future holidays.
Free Period Products Available at ACT Schools
All ACT public schools are stocked with free period products so students can access them no matter their circumstances. This is part of the ACT Government’s commitment to ensuring students feel comfortable and confident within our schools.
Free period products are available at our school’s front office. Students can access them at any time by talking to our helpful front office staff.
Sanitary pads are available from the front offices of primary schools, while pads and tampons are available at the front offices of high schools and colleges.
Because menstruation is a fact of life, we believe free access to period products should be too.

Become a Homestay Host
Are you interested in broadening your family’s cultural experiences and forming lifelong friendships?
The ACT Education Directorate is seeking Homestay hosts for international students planning to study at an ACT public high school or college.
By becoming a Homestay host, you’ll not only provide a room and meals, but you’ll also welcome a young person into your family and support their growth as they gain new perspectives, confidence, English fluency, and academic and essential life skills.
International students participating in the Homestay program are aged 16 years or above. If you have the time to support a student’s social wellbeing and academic endeavours, and have an interest in other cultures, we would love to hear from you.
A weekly payment will be provided to help cover the costs of living expenses.
Find out more at bit.ly/HomestayCanberra or email ieu@act.gov.au, or call 02 6205 9194.
