Food Studies Students Bake for Easter

To wrap up Term 1, our Food Studies students put their baking skills to the test with a batch of fresh, homemade hot cross buns – just in time for Easter!

We hope everyone enjoyed a safe and restful break. Welcome back for Term 2 – we’re excited for the term ahead!

Careers Week

Careers Week is happening in Week 3 – Monday 12 to Friday 16 May!

Careers Expo 2025

This year’s Careers Expo gave students the chance to explore a range of options for life beyond college. With exhibitors from universities, training providers, apprenticeship programs, and industry, students had plenty of opportunities to ask questions and gather information.

Feedback from students was incredibly positive, with many saying they felt more confident about their next steps.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the event such a success.

LTC remains committed to connecting students with real-world opportunities and supporting every step of their journey.

Japanese Language Students Explore Japan

At the end of 2024, our lucky Japanese language students set off on a two-week cultural and language immersion tour of Japan – an unforgettable experience!

Led by the amazing Rika-sensei and run in partnership with Lake Ginninderra College, the group explored Tokyo, Mt Fuji, Miyama, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, diving into the language and culture every step of the way.

Highlights included Universal Studios in Osaka, mochi and okonomiyaki cooking classes, New Year decoration making, and an authentic tea ceremony.

A huge thank you to Rika-sensei for making this incredible journey possible!

Capital Chemist College Scholarship Awards

Congratulations to three of our Year 12 students who were recognised at the Capital Chemist College Scholarship Awards! 🏆

These awards highlight excellence in citizenship, academics, and resilience — qualities our students demonstrate every day.

We’re proud of their achievements and the positive impact they have on our college community.

She Leads 2025

A fantastic group of LTC students represented the college at the Canberra Colleges Conference on Friday. With this year’s theme UNITE, it was a powerful and memorable day for all involved!

Rowing R-Unit Hits the Water

Students have kicked off their Learn to Row course, embracing a new challenge and developing skills on the lake. Check out the photos from their first sessions!

Exploring Food and Culture

In Ranjan’s Food Studies class, students have been examining the role of food across cultures and communities, while sharpening their skills in nutrition, sustainability, and food preparation.
Shoutout to teachers John and Darlene for bravely stepping up as taste-testers—tough job, but someone had to do it!

LTC Takes the Stage at Class Clowns National Final

Our talented students Jemimah, Taylah, and Eli hit the stage at Melbourne Town Hall with their original comedy skit Geckonomics, proudly representing the ACT in the 2025 Class Clowns National Grand Final.

The crowd laughed, the lights were bright, and the trio delivered their performance with confidence and flair. While they didn’t take home the top prize, we’re incredibly proud of their creativity, courage, and comedic talent – what a moment for LTC!

Year 12 HUB Students Explore Post-College Pathways

Five Year 12 HUB students recently took part in a School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) taster day with the Personnel Group. 🙌

They learned about support options available after college and wrapped up the day with an industry tour at Woolworths—packing biscuits, stocking produce, and even serving customers at the registers! Great work, team!

ACT public school term dates

The ACT public school term dates for 2026-2030, including student-free days, are now available on the Education Directorate’s website.

Use these dates when planning your future holidays.

Free Period Products Available at ACT Schools

All ACT public schools are stocked with free period products so students can access them no matter their circumstances. This is part of the ACT Government’s commitment to ensuring students feel comfortable and confident within our schools.

Free period products are available at our school’s front office. Students can access them at any time by talking to our helpful front office staff.

Sanitary pads are available from the front offices of primary schools, while pads and tampons are available at the front offices of high schools and colleges.

Because menstruation is a fact of life, we believe free access to period products should be too.

Are you interested in broadening your family’s cultural experiences and forming lifelong friendships?

The ACT Education Directorate is seeking Homestay hosts for international students planning to study at an ACT public high school or college.

International students participating in the Homestay program are aged 16 years or above. If you have the time to support a student’s social wellbeing and academic endeavours, and have an interest in other cultures, we would love to hear from you.

A weekly payment will be provided to help cover the costs of living expenses.
