An Unforgettable Day of Japanese Culture

🎌⛩️ Our Japanese students recently had a fantastic cultural experience at the Japan Foundation Sydney.

This immersive journey into Japanese culture was a day to remember. The Japan Foundation Sydney welcomed our students with open arms, offering them a chance to explore the rich and vibrant traditions of Japan. From donning ‘yukata,’ the traditional summer outfit, to mastering the graceful ‘bon odori’ dance performed during Obon festivals, our students truly soaked in the beauty of Japanese customs.

🌸✨ The yukata, a lightweight kimono typically worn during the summer months, is a symbol of both elegance and comfort. Our students were provided with a hands-on lesson in the art of wearing this traditional garment. With expert guidance, they discovered the intricate yet captivating process of wrapping themselves in the yukata, which is known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns.

As the students twirled and swayed in their yukata, they gracefully moved on to the ‘bon odori’ dance. This dance is a core part of Japan’s Obon festivals, which honor deceased ancestors. Our students found themselves enchanted by the music, movements, and the deep cultural significance of the dance.

🌸✨ It was a day of cultural immersion and learning, and our students left the Japan Foundation Sydney with a deeper appreciation for Japan’s rich heritage. They not only acquired new skills in dressing and dancing but also had the opportunity to engage with the warm and welcoming Japanese culture.

We are immensely grateful to the Japan Foundation Sydney for hosting this unforgettable experience, and to our dedicated students who embraced this cultural journey with enthusiasm. This day was a testament to the power of cultural exchange and a reminder that learning extends far beyond the classroom.

Excursion to “Wicked” Takes Centre Stage!

In the heart of the city, under the dazzling lights of the theater district, our students recently embarked on a magical journey. They ventured to the mesmerizing Emerald City, not by road or rail, but through the entrancing world of the Broadway musical “Wicked.”

As the curtains rose, a wave of excitement swept through the audience. The stage came alive with the captivating tale of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. The splendid performances left everyone spellbound, making it a night to remember.

From the very first note to the final bow, the students were transported to the land of Oz, where they witnessed the untold story behind the iconic “Wizard of Oz.” The bewitching songs, the enchanting set design, and the exceptional cast made it an unforgettable experience.

The magic of live theatre is unlike any other, and “Wicked” cast its spell over our students, leaving them with memories to cherish for a lifetime. 🌟🧙‍♀️💚✨🎭

Year 12 Visual Arts Students Dive into Independent Study

In the realm of artistic expression, our Year 12 Visual Arts students are embarking on an exciting journey. With canvases, brushes, lenses, and boundless creativity, they’re immersing themselves in their first independent study project. 🖼️📸✨

As they venture into the uncharted waters of creative exploration, the students are crafting their thoughts, emotions, and ideas into tangible works of art. Each brushstroke, each captured moment, and each carefully chosen detail speaks volumes about their artistic voices. 🌟

We’re thrilled to announce that their artistic odyssey will culminate in a spectacular end-of-year exhibition. Mark your calendars from November 7th to 14th, as the Lake Tuggeranong Library transforms into a haven of creativity and inspiration. 🎨👩‍🎨👨‍🎨✨📆🏛️
