Embracing Excitement and Innovation: Highlights from the Last Two Weeks at LTC
In the dynamic whirlwind of the past two weeks, LTC has been a hub of excitement and innovation. Amidst the vibrant tapestry of events like Book Week, Science Week, and Australian School Library Day, a truly remarkable achievement has shone brightly: our LTC staff and students making their mark on the national stage.
Featured prominently in ABC news stories, they’ve tackled the vital issue of language class delivery in the face of a teacher shortage—a challenge that resonates across the education landscape.
Make sure to explore the blog for a glimpse into these accomplishments and an overview of the myriad of opportunities that lie ahead.

LTC in the Media
In a recent feature on ABC National News Breakfast, Lake Tuggeranong College’s staff and students played a prominent role, highlighting the pressing equity issue surrounding language program delivery due to the ongoing teacher shortage. This coverage accurately portrayed the challenges we face in providing language education while acknowledging our determination to find solutions. The spotlight on this crucial matter underscores our commitment to addressing equity barriers in education and fostering global understanding despite the existing challenges.
National Science Week
LTC’s Week 5 was a blast celebrating National Science Week under the theme “Innovation – Powering Future Industries.”
Our Health and Wellbeing class delved into the world of drone-assisted healthcare delivery in remote areas. They mastered piloting and programming drones to make a difference.
The Interdisciplinary Science class explored drones’ agricultural applications – from fertilizer delivery to pest control. They, too, honed drone piloting and programming skills.
Wrapping up the week, Yr 12 Physics and Chemistry students collaborated with 22 Yr 6 students from local feeder schools. Together, they built fruit batteries, tested wind turbine blade designs, and navigated drones through health service obstacles.
Huge thanks to teachers Scott Carter, Chandra Kanta, and Tim Jones from the Academy of Future Skills for guiding this week of immersive learning. Special shout out to Charles Conder Primary School, Taylor Primary School, Theodore Primary School, Wanniassa School, and Wanniassa Hills Primary School for joining the scientific journey!

LTC Community Showcase
Earlier this week, our courtyard transformed into a hub of connection and discovery at the LTC Community Showcase!
We brought together 16 amazing community organisations offering valuable information and support.
As an added treat, a free BBQ lunch and live music elevated the energy of the event even further!

Book Week 2023
Last Tuesday, Lake Tuggeranong College buzzed with the vibrant energy of our delightful Book Week parade!
Students and staff came together to celebrate the magic of literature.
The parade was a spectacular showcase of creativity and imagination.
Stay tuned as we share more captivating snapshots from this enchanting event!

Australian School Library Day
Libraries are made by people!
Yes, that might seem obvious to say that people make libraries, but this year’s theme for Australian School Library Day aims to highlight the work of library staff that often happens behind the scenes or with only one student or one teacher at a time.
