LTC scoops the CAT awards

Lake Tuggeranong College is celebrating its incredible success in the 2014 Canberra Area Theatre awards (the CATs) for the college production of Moon Over Buffalo. At the recent Gala Night (Saturday 21 Feb 2015) the college took out an unprecedented five categories for the one production.

A quirky comedy full of physicality and requiring exquisite timing, Moon Over Buffalo was a risky choice for the college performing arts team, but one which held the promise of great reward. Emily Tutin, production director, sensed an affinity with the talents of her students and went for it.

The critics were in raptures for the performances and this was reflected in the eight nominations the production received. In the two major actor/actress categories, the production generated dual nominees, signalling the depth of quality in the cast.

In the end, the results were:

  • Best Youth Actor in a Featured Role in a Play – Chris Brookhouse
  • Best Youth Actress in a Featured Role in a Play – Melissa Nuttall
  • Best Youth Actress in a Leading Role in a Play – Belle Nicol
  • Best Director of a School/Youth Play – Emily Tutin
  • Best Production of a School/Youth Play – Moon Over Buffalo.

The college also received two ‘Best Youth Actress’ and ‘Best Youth Actor’ nominations for its 2014 musical, How to Succeed I Business Without Really Trying. Combined with the nominations (and results) for the college production, these results significantly elevate the profile of the performing arts at Lake Tuggeranong College.

Congratulations to all involved!
